Week 39 - Joanne and Danni's Baptisms

Hey everyone!  Awesome news this week!

First off, we had two baptisms this week.  They were amazing!  I got to baptize Sister Humble!  She also had Elder Walker and I sing "I Need Thee Every Hour" which turned out pretty good :)  She has a lot of support from her Ward, so she will do very well.  I'm very proud of her, she has completely changed her life around and it has really strengthened my testimony of the Atonement.  I am so grateful for the Savior and the help he gives us.

Sister Goodwin was also baptized. Her son Tod, who was baptized two weeks ago, was able to baptize her.  It was such a sweet experience and I'm so glad I got to be part of bringing that family together.  She also has an amazing Ward and they have brought her right into the fold, she is doing really well.  We will be giving her a blessing tonight, as she will be going for hip replacement surgery tomorrow.

In other news, I found out that I am being transferred tomorrow.  I am being sent down to the southernmost area in the mission, Lorin Farr.  The area that not only is the highest baptizing area in the mission, but also totally sounds like it could be a Star Wars planet.  So, I'm pretty excited.  I hope that we can keep it the highest baptizing area.  I will be finishing the training of Elder Mobley. I have no idea who he is, so I sure hope he's a hard worker.

Anyway, things should be going great this week!  I hope you all are doing well, I pray for you all every night!

Oh, and also, last week I didn't write, so I'll send you videos of what we were doing.  Bubble Ball soccer.

Week 37 - The Atonement is Real

Hello everyone, this week has been pretty exciting.  We have been hoping to hit three baptisms for the transfer and it looks like it is going to happen.  We might even have a fourth if one of our investigators has a good interview witht the Stake President.  Being out here and serving has been one of the greatest blessings that I have had in my life.  I love being able to see other people change, and sincerely exercise their faith in our Savior Jesus Christ.  I have learned so much about having faith and it has been amazing to be able to work with those that I work with. Danni and Joanne are both on date for the 26th now and we are excited to see them join the fold.  Yesterday we went over to Sister Humble's because she has been struggling with the urge to smoke, we went over and shared some scriptures with her and invited her to pull out the Book of Mormon whenever she starts to feel the temptation.  She is going strong though, and I know that she will be able to do it, the Atonement has an amazing enabling effect.

This week we were referred to a family of four that had just moved from England.  The YSA Elders referred us to them and apparently they are interested.  They have not been home yet, but we will hopefully get in contact with them today or tomorrow.

Our appointment with Jergon fell through last week, but hopefully we will be meeting with him tomorrow.  We are excited to start teaching him.

Anyway, things are going great, we have people to teach, we have great people in the Stake and we are doing pretty well of staying within our new monthly mileage limit, yay!  I am very excited for this week, and I can't wait to see what miracles happen within the next few days.  I hope you all are doing well and that your families are safe and prospering.  I know that my Redeemer lives and that he loves each and every one of us, and that through his atonement, we can accomplish anything.

I love you all!

Week 36 - A Week Full of Miracles

Greeting!  This past week has been full of miracles!  We found a new investigator and invited her to baptism on the 19th, her name is Danni Goodwin.  She said she would pray about the date and let us know the next time we met.  Then at her son's baptism the next day, we asked her how she was feeling.  She said it was the most amazing experience ever and that she needed to be baptized as well.  Her son, Todd, well get the priesthood on Sunday and he will be able to baptize her.  She is very excited and we are so happy to see that she is so willing to follow Christ.

Sister Humble has almost ready for baptism so we are working hard with her.  She is excited for the 26 and texts us all the time letting us know how good she feels knowing that she has a loving Heavenly Father.

We also found another new investigator last night name Jergon.  We knocked on his door and he told us that his fiance' was a less active member who is wanting to get to the temple and that he wants to take the lessons and find out what makes her so happy.

We also have two new potential investigators that sound very promising.  They have lived in Utah for four years but have never had missionaries come to their door, and now they would like to have us teach them.

I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to be a missionary out here in Logan Utah.  I know that it is through the spirit and not through our own efforts that we are able to teach the gospel to others, and I am so grateful that I can have the spirit with me.  I want to testify of the truthfulness of the plan of salvation, and that because of the atonement of our savior Jesus Christ, we can all be resurrected and live with our families for eternity, as long as we make and keep the covenants that our Father in Heaven would have us make.  I love the gospel, and I love my mission and I say this in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

Week 35 - Tyler's Baptism

Hello everyone!  This week was great!  We had Tyler's baptism on Saturday and then he asked me to confirm him on Sunday, so that was great :)  We are going to start the recent convert lessons with him soon, and the Ward mission leader and the Bishop want to see if he'd like to work towards going on a mission.  I love this guy, he is great!

Sister Humble has pushed the baptism back to the 26th, but she is only doing that because she would like to increase her gospel knowledge first, she is still super solid.  We got a text from her last night asking me if I would be willing to baptize her, I said yes of course.  I am so excited for her and I'm really touched that she wanted me to do it, she is awesome :)

We also got a car, so that has really helped out with the new stake.  We have a lot of work to do in that stake as well.  So I am loving the mission, I love spreading the gospel.

I just want to share a quick scripture that I have been thinking a lot about lately.  D&C 19:15-19

15  Therefore I command you to repent-repent, lest I smite you by the rod of my mouth, and by my wrath, and by my anger, and your sufferings be sore-how sore you know not, how exquisite you know not, yea, how hard to bear you know not.

16  For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;

17  But if they would not repent they must suffer even as I;

18  Which suffering caused myself, even God, the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore, and to suffer both body and spirit-and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink-

19  Nevertheless, glory be to the Father, and I partook and finished my prepartations unto the children of men.

I just want us all to remember that Christ suffered for us beyond what anyone can imagine, and that we all need to be careful not to take it for granted, definitely use it, but not abuse it.  I love my savior Jesus Christ and I am so grateful that he would die for all of us, so that we could be forgiven of all our many shortcomings and come back to him.  I know that is why I am our here, declaring repentance to those who need it, which is everyone.  I am so grateful for the opportunity that I have to bear his name on my chest for two years here in Logan Utah.  Let us all remember to bear his name in our hearts.  I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Love you all, have a great week!
